In December 2010 a DP Evaluation team of five were appointed by the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund to evaluate the question how funders can create positive social change, drawing on the learning from the Fund and others. This set us on a course to discover and describe a funder conundrum, choices funders face ... It has helped enormously that the team has a long track record of planning and creating social change (as managers in NGOs) and analysing change and progress towards it as fundraisers and evaluators.
Employers and funders of our work include Oxfam, Amnesty International, Greenpeace, Action Aid, Oak Foundation, Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation and the Big Lottery Fund – amongst many others.
The debates behind the top line question of how funders can create positive social change are very relevant and really interest us and we hope that the evidence and frameworks we have produced through this project will stimulate debate in the sector and help to keep it live. Please get in touch with any comments you may have or if you would like to discuss any area within the fields of funding, strategy or evaluation.
